Cheryl Yip B. KIN.

Cheryl is a bilingual (English and Cantonese) Practicing Kinesiologist and a member in good standing with the BC Association of Kinesiologists. She has a special interest in active rehabilitation and injury prevention, with experience working in both community and clinical settings. She graduated High Honours from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Kinesiology. During her studies, she was the student athletic therapist for the Varsity Blues Women’s Volleyball Team, where she gained a particular interest in exercise rehabilitation for acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. As well, Cheryl’s first-hand experience with sport-related injuries has reinforced her passion and purpose in helping her clients overcome barriers in their recovery and achieve optimal function to return to activities meaningful for them.

Through individualized exercise prescriptions relevant to her clients’ goals, Cheryl aims to enhance movement quality and competence through evidence-based interventions. She firmly believes in the importance of working collaboratively with her clients so that they feel empowered to take ownership of their health. Her goal is for her clients to leave each session with new knowledge and a better understanding of themselves, such that they can continually see progress and exceed even their own expectations.

Cheryl utilizes her educational background in clinical biomechanics and exercise psychology and adopts a client-centred approach to create an environment that is goal-oriented yet adaptable, challenging yet safe, and motivating yet supportive to maximize positive outcomes. She is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and an FRC® Mobility Specialist (FRCms).
